ALEC PHILLIPS was born and raised in northern New Jersey. The son of jazz bassist, Bill Phillips,owner of the renowned Stea- Phillips Recording Studio with playing credits from the Newport Jazz Festival to Birdland, and singer/songwriter Anne Phillips, Roulette recording artist and composer/arranger of national commercials featuring such great R&B and rock and pop artists as The Four Tops, Wilson Pickett, Martha and the Vandellas and Linda Ronstadt, Alec grew up surrounded with great music and great musicians. His recording experience began in the world-class studio in his family's home and his singing on commercials. Alec began his professional career as a drummer/vocalist with his many bands, Power trios, 6 piece Southern rock bands and Jam bands, to learn more about harmony, theory and arranging, he headed to Boston and was admitted to the Berklee School of Music as a piano major. Writing and gigging full time for the last twelve years has made Alec a rock-n-roll veteran opening for many national acts such as Jorma from Hot Tuna and Jefferson Airplane, Rick Danko, Robbie Krieger (The Doors), Toy Caldwell(Marshall Tucker) , Jefferson Starship and more . Alec has made his way onto the international scene playing keyboards on European tours for Paul Young and British pop band Bros. His first two CD's , " OVER EASY " and "IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE," capture the many different styles and moods influenced by his past. He is working on his next two CD's now "LOVE BOMB" and "ALEC PHILLIPS and the ROCK HOUSE WOOGIE BOYS." Alec now lives in Goshen NY and continues to perform as :ALEC PHILLIPS , solo (keyboards, guitar, harmonica and vocals), ALEC PHILLIPS AND THE POCKET (with drums added) , ALEC PHILLIPS ANDTHE FULL POCKET ( 3 to 8 piece band). He also records and produces at his state-of-the-art recording facility, SUNSET STUDIO.
